Vladimir "Maelstorm" Kuzminov shared that in 2016, Dota 2 commentators earned between $2,000 and $3,500, but their income has since decreased.
The well-known Dota 2 commentator revealed this during an interview with the YouTube channel Hardbass TV.
"In 2016, I was making $2,000 plus a bunch of bonuses. For each Major qualifier, they paid around three to four thousand dollars, depending on the number of matches. Separate payments were made for the Majors and The International. I'd say there was an excessive amount of money back then"
Maelstorm emphasized that payment depended on the number of matches and events. He mentioned that, besides a base salary of $2,000, there were various bonuses and incentives tied to events. However, he admitted that after 2016, earnings gradually decreased.
"At the time, the salary was around $3,500. Over time, I started making less because Valve stopped inviting me to various Majors, leaving only RuHub"
According to him, Valve eventually stopped inviting him to Majors, so his earnings were no longer what they once were.
