Vladimir “Maelstorm” Kuzminov explained why
Virtus.pro declined an invite to the closed qualifiers of The International 2025: the team will play qualifications in the Western Europe Region (WEU) to avoid overlap with the qualifiers for the Riyadh Masters 2025.
The Dota 2 commentator said in his Telegram channel:
“So. Reasons. VPs will play quals for Int by WEU, as they participate in the Riyadh qualifiers by MENA. That way there will be no overlap in dates. NaVi.J want to snag the quota, plus they have a bootcamp in Europe”
Maelstorm noted that due to scheduling conflicts,
Virtus.pro decided to qualify for The International 14 through the WEU region, and for the Riyadh Masters through MESWA. In his opinion, this is the reason why the organization declined the invitation to the closed qualifiers for Eastern Europe.
The club has not yet officially commented on the situation, but this scenario looks quite likely.
