Vladimir "Maelstorm" Kuzminov, a commentator and analyst in Dota 2, highlighted at least three strange moments in
Virtus.pro address to fans after their team was eliminated from the qualifiers for The International 2024.
He posted the corresponding message on his Telegram channel.
"I didn't quite understand this post. Apologizing to fans is fine, but why do these apologies seem like apologies for some immoral act rather than a defeat in qualifiers? Okay, they lost, it happens, but here it's as if instead of preparing, they were doing who knows what, or is there something we don't know?"
The first thing he noticed was the apologies to the fans. The commentator emphasized that the club apologizes for the defeat as if the players were not prepared at all for their performances. He also pointed out the strangeness of hinting at a possible disbandment of the roster.
"You guys made it to Riyadh, right? It's like almost an international level event. What kind of 'competitive roster' are you planning to assemble? Disband already or what?"
He emphasized that the current roster managed to qualify for Riyadh Masters 2024, and the sudden hints at radical changes among the roster surprised fans. The last part of the address confused the analyst even more, as he is not sure if he understood correctly the reference to the year 2022 for the team.
"The third paragraph... Again, I don't understand. Well, I sort of do, but apparently not fully. The only thing cooler was in 2019 when the General Manager's statement on 2 pages was posted seconds after getting eliminated from the International"
Recall that earlier,
Virtus.pro management addressed fans after the team's elimination from The International 2024 qualifiers, hinting at significant changes in the roster.
