Vladimir "Maelstorm" Kuzminov explained that
Team Spirit appointed Ilya "Illidan" Pivcaev as the coach of
Yellow Submarine because of his playing experience, and also his ability to help young players build a proper team structure.
The Dota 2 commentator said this in a comment for Esports.ru.
"Ilya is a super experienced player and already quite an adult person. Though I'm not sure how he behaves on streams now, or in life in general. I think he has a big experience in performing, and plus he plays Dota and understands how the game works. I think that Dota as a game is probably better understood by young and talented players, maybe even a bit better than him. But what to do with it from the point of team discipline — that’s something he can definitely help with. And then it all depends from him. He has everything needed, as I see it. Maybe not the best, not the brightest, but for sure very good"
Maelstorm noted that maybe young and perspective players don’t need help understanding the game itself, but Illidan can help them with discipline. The commentator reminded that the streamer has experience performing on the Dota 2 pro scene, so he should help the roster build team structure and discipline, making the young squad more united and strong.
He also mentioned that Illidan could become a good coach. According to him, the streamer maybe doesn’t have the best record on the Dota 2 pro scene, but he’s definitely experienced and can become a mentor for the team.
