Winners of LAN tournaments have a better chance of receiving direct invitations to The International 2024 compared to other teams. The selection system has changed following Valve's decision to cancel the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) for this season.
Commentator Vladimir "Maelstorm" Kuzminov explained who might receive direct invitations to the Dota 2 World Championship in his Telegram channel.
The analyst emphasized that Dota 2 tournaments would have varying significance, and victory would be evaluated based on several parameters, affecting a team's chances of receiving an invite to the premier esports event in this discipline.
"I would highlight the significance of tournaments in descending order:
Future Games
Riyadh
International tournaments with qualifiers and spectators
International LANs without spectators but with qualifiers.
International online leagues with qualifiers.
LANs only by invitation
International tournaments by invitation
Local tournaments with qualifiers and spectators"
He emphasized that, based on Valve's statement, LAN tournaments would have an advantage over online competitions. Therefore, theoretically, BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 would be more valuable for a team than winning DreamLeague Season 22.
"The more teams can participate in a tournament, the more attention we pay: interregional tournaments provide more useful information than intraregional ones, tournaments with qualifiers provide more than invitation-only tournaments, and so on"
Valve has not yet explained the detailed criteria for evaluating team performance. However, it seems that the priority for invitations will be given to victories in major LAN tournaments, increasing the chances of attending The International 2024.
Recall that Valve previously changed the rules for TI13, reducing the number of participating teams and altering the qualification system for the Dota 2 World Championship.
