Vladimir “Maelstorm” Kuzminov believes that it is not productive to ban advertising at tournaments, however, according to a statement by the caster, Valve can afford such decisions.
The commentator shared the relevant opinion in his personal Telegram channel.
“Cutting off such advertising at tournaments is certainly counterproductive. I remember how at one time, on the contrary, such a thing was introduced in the same Warcraft on the maps. It prevents tournament operators from making money.
However! If you're your own operator, and a developer, and you pay for everything yourself, then why not?”
Valve has decided to ban teams from displaying any promotional content at The International 2024. Such an innovation deprives teams of the opportunity to earn money on sponsorship integrations, which made many cybersports players skeptical of the rule.
The International 2024 will be held in Denmark from September 4 to 15. In the Dota 2 community actively criticize Valve for the lack of hype around the most anticipated event in cybersports.
Earlier, BetBoom Team manager Luca “Lukawa” Nasuashvili expressed his opinion about Valve's decision.
