Peter 'ppd' Dagher has revealed that he has decided to end his career as a pro player in Dota 2, as he felt he had reached his peak in that direction.
The pro-player made the corresponding statement in an interview with bo3 Publishing.
“Wow, big question. I stopped playing during COVID, that’s when I took a step back and felt it was time to do something else. Being a player is awesome and a great life but I’ve always been someone who’s wanted to achieve things and I didn’t really feel there was that much more to achieve in Dota 2.”
Peter 'ppd' Dagher also stated that he had a desire to look at eSports from a different angle, giving other players the opportunity to develop. The former cybersport player decided to take a break from his career to form a vision for his future, where he wanted to capitalize on his existing connections. However, the player admitted that these plans failed to materialize as the cyber athlete's connections quickly disappeared after leaving his position as captain in
Ninjas in Pyjamas.
“Coming out of esports at a different angle where I could provide opportunities to people was very interesting to me. I've always been somebody who is trying to collaborate and better organise my peers to do things that were bigger than things that I could do just by myself; but I felt as a player that I was really running up against a wall with peers within Dota. So I thought that if I took a step back and came at it from a different angle, I might be able to have the impact that I was trying to have - unfortunately I was mistaken. I realised that after I walked away from a position of power as captain of
Ninjas in Pyjamas, I lost leverage. People are caught up in their own lives and they aren’t necessarily interested in working on something that they don’t realise the immediate benefits from.”
As a reminder, former pro player Roman “Resolut1on” Fominok said earlier that he plans to return to the professional scene next season.
