Dmitry “Korb3n” Belov said that the real warning of Dota 2 pro scene decline will not be team disbands, but decisions from tournament operators to cancel events.
He talked about this during his Twitch stream.
“The game is definetly not dying yet. We need to look at what happens in 2027, and pay attention to tournament operators. Teams in this context are not that important”
Korb3n believes that its way too early to bury Dota 2, and the game still performs well. However, he noted that there could be warning signs, and the situation should be watched closer in 2027.
According to him, teams themselves dont really impact the existence of the Dota 2 pro scene. What matters much more is actions of tournament operators next year. They are the ones who decide if tournaments exist and if teams can be sustained.
Other analysts are not so optimistic like Korb3n, and more Dota 2 rosters are expected to shut down before the end of the year. Also, there are rumors that BLAST tournaments next year might be in question, but there is still no official confirmation.
