Dmitry “Korb3n” Belov, the
Team Spirit manager, said that the new Dota 2 patch needs to change the gameplay and the hero pool, because the game has become stale in its current state.
He talked about this during a stream on his Twitch channel.
“The fact that the patch isn’t changing is a problem, because the whole gameplay has been the same for a long time. I think that even if there’s a patch that doesn’t change the gameplay but changes the hero pool in teams again… well, any patch will change the hero pool, let’s be honest. Of course, there will be something fresh, but it’ll be fresh only for a couple of weeks. For me personally, the problem in Dota… Right now there is decent hero diversity, actually. I just don’t want to go back to a situation where each role has only five playable heroes”
Korb3n pointed out that the patch hasn’t changed for too long, and that has become an issue. He said the main problem now is not the hero pool — which has become fairly diverse — but the gameplay itself.
According to him, players are tired of the same patterns in matches and have long been wanting more variety, especially in terms of teamfights. Korb3n believes the new patch should fix this problem at least for a few weeks.
As a reminder,
Team Spirit previously named the likely release date of the new Dota 2 patch.
