Dmitry "Korb3n" Belov believes that Dota 2 academies are non-existent, and popular teams don't form youth squads because there's nowhere for them to play.
The
Team Spirit manager expressed this opinion during a personal broadcast on Twitch.
"In Dota, there are no tournaments. We have a different system. In CS, you play in the academy for a year to move up. Sometimes even two years. Then you are ready for a tier-1 team. It's evident that you are ready. In Dota, you can take someone from the pub scene, and they can perform like SumaiL.
We don't have tournaments for academies at all. They are absent. If you gather a team of 1k MMR players, you have zero events. In CS, there were even LANs for academies. That's why Dota academies are a dead thing. They make no sense."
Currently, only one team has a youth squad in Dota 2.
NAVI Junior regularly participates in regional qualifiers and tier-2 and tier-3 level championships.
Team Spirit also allocated funding for Korb3n's academy,
Yellow Submarine, whose roster has already made a name for themselves in the professional Dota 2 scene.
As a reminder, Anton "dyrachyo" Shkredov was previously banned on Twitch but had the suspension lifted within just an hour.
