Dmitry “Korb3n” Belov believes that professional Dota 2 will continue for another 2–3 years.
The
Team Spirit manager’s statement was posted on YouTube.
“Esports and casual gaming are two different things. Esports… I think it has two or three years left. It might shrink a bit, but there’s really no need to worry too much. After that, it’s unclear. Unless, of course, Valve makes some moves. It’s Valve that needs to make a move.”
According to Dmitry “Korb3n” Belov, the number of tournaments may decrease, as may the prize pool, but the esports discipline will still survive for several more years, after which it may disappear for good if the developers don’t make any serious decisions. Nevertheless, the game itself may retain its popularity even after the pro scene disappears.
As a reminder, Ilya “Kiritych” Ulyanov previously expressed his frustration over the lack of official announcements regarding major Dota 2 tournaments.
