Paragon Events Studio director Sergei Posashkov has unveiled the real incomes for Dota 2 and CS2 commentators. It turned out that many of them earned much lesser than esports players with the sums from $300 to $2700.
Posashkov revealed this during an interview with GROMKAST, a YouTube channel.
“Commentators are often paid by the game. They make on average $50 – $100 per best-of-3 series. In case of a high-tier commentator, it can reach as much as $300. The cost of a commentator is higher if they have a large number of fans and their look attracts lots of spectators. It is not entirely correct to perceive it as payment for commentary work. Essentially, you will be paying for attracting more audience”
The lead in Paragon Events made clear that commentator’s salaries are quite good and even newcomers may earn but studios would give more money to popular streamers in most cases.
“Newcomers make about 500 bucks. There are also intermediate stages. That’s like $700, 1700 and 2700 or something like that. Average studio pays around three thousand dollars for the services of highly qualified announcer who does live broadcasting matches at Dota 2”. But much more contributes into his revenue coming from sponsor integrations”
