Vladislav "Petushara" Kozlovsky, a well-known esports player, stated that Valve's ban on in-game advertising during The International 2024 will have a negative impact on the discipline overall. He believes that the game will become less attractive to sponsors, which could lead to reduced funding for teams.
The professional player shared this opinion in an interview with Dota2.ru.
"I think this is a rather negative development because the discipline will be much less appealing to bookmakers. The only advertising option left for clubs will be their own content on their channels, especially since even mentioning sponsors in player nicknames is now prohibited"
However, Petushara believes that clubs will try to increase their advertising efforts on social media and find other ways to engage with sponsors, considering the strict rules of the Dota 2 World Championship.
It's worth noting that Valve decided to change the rules for The International 2024 this year by banning in-game advertising, including the mention of sponsors in player nicknames.
