Jean "Gorgc" Stefanovski stated that Alimzhan "watson" Islambekov was able to maintain the top spot in the Dota 2 leaderboard for so long due to having a smurf account.
This statement was made by the well-known streamer during a Twitch broadcast, and the relevant moment has been published on the YouTube channel Ez Dotes.
"Quinn took the first place in Europe. I think part of the reason why Watson held the throne for so long is that he could play on an alternative account when he was on tilt. It helped him a lot. Now that smurfs are banned, he has finally been displaced"
According to Gorgc, it was the smurf account that helped the
Entity player maintain the top position in the ranking, but everything changed after the ban wave. Quinn "Quinn" Callahan, the midlaner for
Gaimin Gladiators, has now taken his place. However, Gorgc believes this is temporary, and Watson will be able to reclaim the top spot.

It's worth noting that Alimzhan held the title of the best player for almost the entire year 2023, and at one point, he even occupied two spots in the rankings. His smurf account also held the second position for some time.
