Gaimin Gladiators considered two other players for the position of Anton "Dyrachyo" Shkredov, aside from Alimzhan "Watson" Islambekov, but due to time constraints on roster changes, the team decided to go with Watson.
This was revealed by Erik "Tofu" Engel, support player for GG, during an interview with BLAST TV.
"Watson was one of the candidates we considered. He has been at the top of the MMR rankings for the past few years and is a high-skill player. Moreover, he is calm and easy to work with. We had two other options, but there was very little time. We had to make a quick decision as players wanted to know what their future held, so we went with Watson"
Tofu admitted that the negotiations with potential carry replacements were rushed. According to him, the players were eager to know the terms and prospects with the team, possibly having offers from other organizations. GG, as Tofu emphasized, chose Watson because of his high MMR and calm demeanor.
It is worth noting that earlier, Tofu made a sharp statement about Dyrachyo, revealing internal team problems.
