The former captain of
Team Aster's Dota 2 roster, Yu '皮球' Yajun, known as Siamese.C, stated that talks about disbandment began after last year's TI, but the team decided to play for some time to regain form. The January qualifiers became decisive in making the final decision.
The esports athlete made this statement during a personal live broadcast for the Chinese audience, a segment of which is posted on the Dota Lin Official YouTube channel.
"After last year's TI, it seemed they didn't want to continue. Also, they were friends with Erika. I said, 'Let's try for two months. If it doesn't work out – forget it.' In the end, it didn't work out, and we parted ways. BoBoKa and Xxs left; they definitely didn't want to continue. The team was built around them. What was the point of continuing after they left? Those three months were dedicated to convincing Xiaofei, the
Team Aster boss. There was no one else, but something could have clicked from this. If not – we could continue sitting at home. Xiaofei was very kind to me and all of us. He did everything he could as a boss. We felt we let him down. The year 2023 was a complete failure. In the last few months, we achieved nothing. We didn't qualify for any tournament. I think if we had qualified for a tournament, there wouldn't have been a disband."
Team Aster participated in the closed regional qualifiers of DreamLeague Season 22. The team exited from the lower bracket after losing to
Team Bright in the second round. The lineup managed to defeat
Go along but lost in the next round against
G2.iG, who secured a slot in the main tournament through the lower bracket.

Recall that earlier,
Team Liquid's coach, William "Blitz" Lee, commented on the team's exit from DreamLeague Season 22.
