Artem “fng” Barshak stated that simply playing a lot of matches is not enough to achieve a high MMR in Dota 2, because due to the high level of competition with experienced players, the ability to win difficult games and a good understanding of the meta come to the fore.
The player shared this opinion on Twitch.
“No, well, you need skill and the ability to win difficult games. Because almost all the guys who have achieved a super high rank are quite professional. They have a good understanding of the meta. Well, basically, they are carry players.”
According to Artem “fng” Barshak, the most effective way to gain rating in Dota 2 is in the first position. To do this, you also need to be able to farm effectively and consistently demonstrate a positive win rate of at least 60%.
"They understand matchups well and are very good at farming. And you have to play a lot, too, yes. Because in the long run, you still need a high win rate. A high win rate is, roughly speaking, winning 66% of the time. That's a huge win rate. Or you need, say, a 60% win rate to boost your MMR. Well, of course, if the games aren't over +10 yet, you play. If we take games over +10, then it's just a matter of numbers."
Let us remind you that earlier Artem “fng” Barshak reflected on the prospects of Topias “Topson” Taavitsainen as the coach of the Dota 2 team.
