Artem “fng” Barshak said that he lost interest in Dota 2 because the game no longer evoked positive emotions in him.
The player made this statement on Twitch.
“I've said many times that I don't really like Dota as a game. It lost that initial feeling for me, when you played with friends, when you just played casually, when you were learning to play. All of that is long gone.”
According to Artem “fng” Barshak, he decided to start playing other games on his streams to enjoy the experience of playing through them again, unlike Dota 2, where there is no real end goal other than improving your rating. The player also noted that he has always been indifferent to MMR, and his real interest in Dota 2 awakens after the release of new patches, when it becomes necessary to study a new meta.
"Why did I even want to stream the same Expedition, the same Elden Ring, the same Hollow Knight? Because there is some kind of, let's say, achievement. Why do I want to play these games on stream? Because there is some kind of achievement in terms of completing the game and getting some dopamine. Why don't I really want to play Dota, for example? Because there is no goal for me in it. What's the goal for me in playing Dota? Well, there really isn't one. I mean, okay, if I was trying to rank up, but I've always been too indifferent to ranking. Or if it gave me some kind of huge profit — well, okay. Although playing in some kind of party there is fine. If a new patch comes out... I really like new patches because, yes, you immediately want to find something, learn something, etc., etc."
Earlier, Artem “fng” Barshak talked about the qualities needed to achieve a high rating in Dota 2.
