Valve shocked esports players by releasing Dota 2 Patch 7.35 during the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 playoffs. Now, the previous meta is broken, and match outcomes may be highly unpredictable.

One of the first to share his opinion was Luka "Lukawa" Nasuashvili, the manager of BetBoom Team, who posted on his Telegram.

"A patch during a tier-1 tournament — it's time to get used to it. Valve simply shows and proves that 'Dota' will now revolve around casual players, not the competitive scene. Today's games will be interesting and, I think, maximally random"

He emphasized that such global changes were unexpected for players, and predicting the results of the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 playoff matches will be very challenging.

Jonas "SabeRLighT-" Volek, standing in for Team Liquid, was also unprepared for Valve's move and barely had time to finish reading the patch notes before the playoff match against Team Secret.

He expressed his opinion during a post-match interview, where his team managed to win.

"In general, it's madness — just woke up and already playing on a new patch with new items and everything else. I didn't even play pubs before the tournament match and barely had time to finish reading the list of changes. We were very lucky that I have former teammates from Shopify Rebellion, and Liquid has 33, Jabbz, and others. We're in good hands"

The esports player emphasized that teams will now rely on their analysts, who will help them adapt to the new global patch more quickly.

Timur "Ahilles" Kulmukhametov, former Virtus.pro analyst, overall positively assessed Valve's innovation but did not fully understand the logic behind some changes, especially regarding hero balancing.

Ahilles Dota 2 Patch 7.35

"The patch is memorable. It's as if a guy with 3k MMR made it. I have no other reasons why someone kills a dead Sand King and buffs Chen"

He believes that some already strong heroes have received another boost, while non-polar heroes have also been nerfed, surprising Dota 2 players and analysts.

Recall that Valve unexpectedly released the global Patch 7.35 just before the final matches of the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 playoffs, and also launched the Frostivus 2023 holiday event.
