Users on Reddit have noticed that a new chat control system has been implemented during matches. Now, trolls and offenders can be quickly banned if the majority of the team wishes to do so. This became possible thanks to a reporting system that began to work almost instantly.
How does the new chat moderation system work?
While players mostly speculated about the new rules, through group testing, it was possible to understand how the restriction system operates. If 3 out of 5 team members report one person, him access to chat will be restricted until the end of the match. If this behavior repeats in other matches, more serious restrictions are possible. The muting takes effect almost instantly.
Toxic teammates and abuse
The new system has both pros and cons. The issue is that due to the system's automation, it doesn't matter whether the user actually violated communication rules. If three people want, they can effectively mute the chat for two other teammates. This way, they can potentially punish others for stealing jungle creeps or other infractions.
However, the problem of excessive use remains, as some teams may abuse this system against newcomers who accidentally join their game of Dota 2. It is quite possible that the AI system will be further developed in the near future.
