Pavel "9pasha" Khvastunov, streamer and Dota 2 legend, stated that he does not consider BLAST Slam 1 a legitimate tournament due to its unfair format, which disrupts the rhythm of the best teams by forcing them to sit idle for several days.
This statement was made during a Twitch livestream.
"This is not a legitimate tournament. What kind of system is this? You play well in the group stage, and your reward is sitting AFK, staring out the window. What's the point?"
The former professional player pointed out the unfairness of the format towards favorites, citing the case of
Team Falcons. He highlighted that the team performed excellently in their group and then had to rest for four days. According to 9pasha, this break disrupted the teams’ competitive rhythm and ultimately led to their elimination from the tournament.
For this reason, the Dota 2 legend criticized the tournament format, arguing that such long breaks negatively impact the competition. He suggested that without such interruptions, the grand final of BLAST Slam 1 might have looked entirely different.
