Dota 2 wasn’t able to take the title of Esports Game of the Year at the Esports Awards, and instead another MOBA — its main rival, League of Legends — won.
This happened during the award ceremony, which was streamed on YouTube.
Riot Games’ MOBA was announced as the best esports game according to the votes of the players themselfs. The list of nominees also included CS2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Valorant and Fortnite. PUBG Mobile was also named the best mobile MOBA.
Many fans were surprized that Dota 2 still didn’t manage to win the award, considering that the game’s online numbers again rised to some of the best results in the last years. It’s also worth noting that League of Legends won not only this category, but took several awards thanks to the community.
In addition, Aleksandr “Nix” Levin also didn’t get the title of the best streamer of the year, even though many predicted this victory for him.
