Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin believes that Valve developers should make MMR in Dota 2 seasonal, which would make matchmaking more competitive.
The player shared this opinion on YouTube.
“We need to make the rating seasonal. As funny as it may sound, you can look at Warcraft and Hearthstone as examples, where seasonal ratings work well. It’s really great. Plus, the players at the top will keep changing. That would really make a difference.”
Acording to a statement by Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin, the esports player would like to see a ranking system in Dota 2 modeled after Warcraft or Hearthstone. In such a scenario, players would have to compete more fiercely with each other for the top spot in the rankings each season, and the list of MMR favorites would be updated more regularly.
“In one season, Satanic will finish as the top-ranked player; in another, it’ll be Watson; in another, Mangekyou; and in another, Nisha. They’ll have a medal for first place in the spring ranking season, and someone else will have first place for the winter season. That’s really cool—it’s a great idea.”
As a reminder, Dmitry “DM” Dorokhin previously shared details about his removal from the
PARIVISION Dota 2 roster.
