The creators of Overplus threatened Valve to make Dota 2 player skins free and to make smurf accounts invisible, hiding them from Steam's detection systems.
The company reacted to the wave of bans for cheaters in Dota 2 from the game developers by posting an angry message on social media.
"What can we do? In general, we understand how Dota and its algorithms work. The most basic thing that can be useful for all players starting from scratch is that we can make skins visible to everyone"
Also, Overplus allegedly has the ability to hide smurf accounts, allowing users to create additional accounts, which is also prohibited by the rules.
"Yes, this technology has long been invented, it works, and we were only limited by our own thoughts. We can completely hide all players from Steam and smurf detection systems so that you can comfortably play on multiple accounts and have fun with friends"
It is difficult to say how realistic these threats are, but so far Valve has not responded to such bold statements. It is worth noting that Dota 2 developers issued a mass ban on accounts due to the use of Overplus. The program allows free use of any in-game skins and provides an unfair advantage through the pick analyzer.
Presumably, Valve considered features like counter-picking and access to Valve's private statistics as cheating and violations of Dota 2 rules, leading to the blocking of about 10,000 accounts. Several well-known pro-players were also caught up in the ban wave. The nature of Overplus and the reasons for the bans were discussed in our previous material.
