The founder and captain of B8 Esports, Danil «Dendi» Ishutin, spoke about the difficulties of playing on the Dota Pro Circuit in North America from Europe.
Dendi:
It was very difficult for me to adapt to the ping, I was very unhappy with my play on the lane, and in general. We stopped picking some heroes, and some started. Because, for example, Void Spirit and Pangolier are heroes that require good ping, and with high ping it is very difficult to both lane and hit them with skills. There are heroes like Windranger who has a very simple gameplay and always performs well in lane.
In general, now Dota is such that a lot depends on the mid, because the mid is now like an engine for the team, and if everything is bad in it, then playing Dota is very difficult. All teams understand this, they all pick very strong laners. Heroes like Pangolier don't win lanes, but pull them up to 50%. This was also a problem when our opponents were picking very strong laners, so we decided to just adapt our picks so that it would be very difficult to close me, given that I had a ping. And it started to work much better.
