Danil "Dendi" Ishutin, a Dota 2 legend, admitted that at one of his first LAN tournaments, he was almost beaten up due to his toxic behavior in the game.
He shared this story during a stream with Jan "Gorgc" Stefanowski.
"I can tell you how I learned that harsh words toward others can come back at you. This was around 2006, back in the original Dota.
I was 16 or 17, and I was small – much shorter and skinnier. I’m still not very big now, but back then, I was tiny. And I flamed some guy, I was very toxic.
I arrived, and then some big guy, twice my size and height, approached me. He came up, looked at me, and said: 'I'm that guy. You said all that to me.' I was like: 'Okay.'
He looked at me, put his hand on my shoulder, and said: 'I won’t hurt you, but you need to choose your words more carefully when you talk to people.' That was a good lesson for me, and I’ve been more cautious since. But I still had a few similar incidents after that"
He admitted that the situation was tense, but in the end, there was no fight. However, Dendi acknowledged that this was a lesson for him. After that, he wasn’t as toxic in the game, though he admitted that he still found himself in a few similar situations.
Let’s recall that Clement "Puppey" Ivanov managed to get his revenge for the loss at The International 2013 – 11 years later.
