Frostivus 2025 in Dota 2 might start as soon as next week, between December 15 and 21, while patch 7.40 will likely only release in mid-January 2026.
This was reported by a dataminer on the Telegram channel DOTA_DM.
“Tests are still ongoing on the stage. Ideally, next week Frostivus should drop with the reanimated Thrones. Then Valve will have two weeks break. From mid-January until the start of Chinese New Year, we can expect 7.40 with the Bard-Frog, named Largo”
According to him, updates are continuing on the test servers, likely connected to the upcoming launch of Frostivus 2025, which should include a new mode with reanimated Thrones.
However, the dataminer warned that the patch probably won’t come out this year, he said the most likely release window for patch 7.40 is mid-January, around the Chinese New Year. Considering this, it can be inferred that the update might drop around January 17, 2026.
He also believes that along with the patch, a new hero named Largo, previously known as Bard-Frog, will be added to Dota 2.
