How to Record a Demo in CS 2?

  • Open the console. Press the ~ (tilde) key to bring up the developer console.

  • Begin recording. Enter the command record [demo_name] where [demo_name] is how you want your demo file named. For example, record mymatch will record mymatch.dem.

  • Play the game. You will record everything that gets done in your entire match.

  • Stop the recording. Bring up the console and type stop to come to a halt during the creation of the recording.

  • Locate the file. The demo name that would be created would be located in a folder which can be found in; Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike 2\cstrike.

How to Watch and Rewind a Demo in CS 2?

Start the game that has a demo which you want to replay. After launching the game, access the console by clicking ~.

In the next step, enter the command in waves which will allow you to replay a previously recorded demo: playdemo [demo_name]. Please note that this has to be done without mentioning the .dem format.

Now, playback of the demo can be controlled with the arrow keys depending on whether you want to fast forward the demo or rewind it.

Change settings. When you wish to fast forward or rewind a demo, turn to your keyboard and press the arrow buttons.

End viewing. To leave the demonstration, AppPress Esc and choose ‘Disconnect or Leave Game’.
