Zais commented on the statement about the decline of Dota 2

Nikita “Zais” Zakharov believes that statements about serious problems with Dota 2 from streamers and pro players are biased, since the average online game is at a very high level for a 15-year-old project.

The commentator stated this on Telegram.

"I'm just sick of hearing every week from yet another post that Dota is dying, or even worse, that it's already dead. First it's streamers, then it's streamers, then someone else says this total nonsense.

Let's break it down: Dota currently has an average daily online player count of at least 400,000, based on the lowest numbers from “bad” months. The game was released 15 years ago! What death are we talking about?"

According to Nikita “Zais” Zakharov, Dota 2's online numbers may seem low when compared to a number of popular esports disciplines. Nevertheless, the content creator considers 400,000 players to be very high for a game that is 15 years old, and also notes that these are not the same users, but a constantly changing audience. The caster also noted that the impression of problems in Dota 2 is formed by players who have spent a lot of time in it, which is why the game has simply become boring. However, for most average-ranked users who log in to play a few matches from time to time, the situation has not changed much.

"Yes, you can compare it to LoL or Fortnite, but for God's sake, 99% of companies in the world would sell their souls to have an average of 400,000 players online in their 15-year-old game. That's not just a lot, that's a lot! It's not the same 400k, it's an ever-changing half a million people online.

Dota isn't dead, your interest in it is. And I can understand that: if a person plays only Dota their whole life, naturally, they'll get tired of it. It's inevitable, no matter how delicious the dish you're eating is. But who do you hear saying that Dota is dying the most? Former players and top MMR players. How many of them are there out of the total number of players? All Rapier and Titan players combined make up about 7% of the player base.

For people who log into Dota for a couple of games every two or three days, Dota is doing just fine."

Let us remind you that earlier, Yaroslav “NS” Kuznetsov criticized Valve for the “Quartero's Curios” update in Dota 2.
