Commentator and former Beyond The Summit employee Dakota «KotLGuy» Cox (aka «Dakota») commented on Valve's decision to close the DPC system and their desire to revive many private Dota 2 tournaments.

These are the types of events we wanted to make the whole time. All we wanted was more support to do so. We used to have that support and it went away.

Due to scheduling, funding and organization issues with the Dota Pro Circuit, tournament organizer Beyond The Summit was forced to close despite big support from the Dota 2 community.

Most professional players and the community as a whole reacted positively to Valve's decision and are looking forward to next year. Fans are hoping for the return of Beyond The Summit as an organizer of Dota 2 tournaments such as the BTS Pro Series and DOTA Summit.
