BLAST Slam radically changes the format of Dota 2 tournaments

The organizers of the BLAST Slam series of tournaments have presented a completely updated format of Dota 2 championships. Now the competitions will be held on LAN, and the list of participants has been expanded to 12 teams - half of them will receive direct invites, and the rest will go through regional selections.

Qualifiers will be global and divided into regions:

• Europe - 2 slots

• China - 1 slot

• America (NA+SA) - 1 slot

• Southeast Asia - 1 slot.

An additional quota will go to the representative of the host region of the tournament - the winner of the audience vote.

The group stage will be held in Best of 1 format, after which the teams will play a series of play-in matches in bo3 format for the right to get a more favorable position in the playoffs. Both stages will take place online, while the final stage of the tournament will take place on LAN, in the studio or on stage.

The next BLAST Slam series tournament is scheduled for October 27 - November 9 in Singapore. Open qualifications will start at the end of September, and the prize pool will remain the same - $1,000,000.
