Dota 2 has officially received its first-ever collaboration with the famous Monster Hunter series from Capcom. This joint update introduces a wealth of new features, with one of the main highlights being the crafting system and a set of unique hero bundles.
Hero Hunts and Free Sets
The centerpiece of the event is the ability to hunt specific heroes. Before each match begins, players can choose a target — one of the enemy heroes — to “hunt” If the player manages to kill the target or assist in their elimination, they will earn set fragments that can later be combined into a full set. The number of fragments earned depends on the match result:
Winning a match grants more crafting materials
Losing yields fewer, but progress is still saved
In total, there are six standard sets available as part of this event, and all of them can be obtained completely for free through participation in the hunts. This new feature blends gameplay and progression mechanics, adding a fresh competitive element to Dota 2.
Premium Pack and Exclusive Rewards
Alongside the free rewards, Valve has also released a paid expansion called the “Hunting Expedition Pack”, priced at $15. Purchasing this pack grants access to several exclusive features:
Three alternative set versions with unique visual effects;
A new pet, inspired by Monster Hunter creatures;
A Palico courier, the loyal companion known to Monster Hunter fans;
Additional cosmetic items, including music, graffiti, and customization options.
This allows players to choose between grinding for free to unlock standard rewards or purchasing the premium pack for enhanced versions and rare cosmetics.
