The action of Team Liquid at the Elite League divided the Dota 2 community: details of the scandal

Some Elite League viewers noticed that Team Liquid applied DotaBuff during drafting phase in one of the tournament matches. This led to a split among users: some accused them of breaking the rules, while others defended the esports players.

The debate began after somebody posted a screenshot from the tournament’s official stream on Reddit.

The screenshot showed one person from Team Liquid with DotaBuff open in his/her browser during draft stage. Many asked themselves whether this is against the regulations. Commentators could not provide a definite answer to this question. Some argued that even opening browsers during a match is forbidden, leave alone using statistical websites.

Others, however, were of the opinion that this rule does not apply in online tournaments. Besides, they said there was no need for Team Liquid to use DotaBuff since they have their own coaching and analyzing team.

As yet club or organizers have made no comment on it so maybe there was nodirect ban on using browsers and external sites. It is worth noting earlier Aydin “iNSaNiA” Sarkoi stated about serious changing of the roster from Team Liquid.
