A possible launch date for a new Dota 2 event has been revealed

The Dota 2 developers are going on vacation, but most Valve employees are expected to return to work after the first week of January — that is when preparations for the launch of a new event may begin.

This insider information was shared on Reddit by a Valve employee under the nickname Yoshi, who works on Deadlock.

“Most developers will return after the first week of January, and then we will continue the work we were doing before”

According to his words, most Valve staff are leaving for the holiday break — likely referring to the developers of Dota 2, Deadlock, and CS2. If the insider information is accurate, the games could receive updates sometime around mid-January.

It is also worth noting that dataminers found an unused Ancient Revival mode in the game files. Therefore, there is a possibility that in January 2026 the developers may launch an event with a new mode as part of Frostivus.
