Ilya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk is unhappy with the cancellation of the DPC, believing that tournaments within the system were interesting and not excessively time-consuming, and in terms of prestige, could rival The International.
Team Spirit's carry made such a statement during an interview with the organizers of the BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024 championship as part of the event's live broadcast on Twitch.
"I think that removing Majors is bad because Majors have been around since 2015, and it was like a mini-International. But at the same time, they removed the DPC; in general, many players complained, but the last form of the DPC, I think, was good because the games were not that long, it was not stretched out. In general, they balanced it, but they decided to remove it, which I think is wrong. And because they removed Majors, now we can attend tournaments like this one. In general, I think it's not bad."
The Dota Pro Circuit is a competitive system for Dota 2 that rewarded teams with points for their performance in tournaments officially supported by Valve. Teams with the highest rankings at the end of the year received invitations to The International. For the first three seasons, the DPC consisted of Major and Minor tournaments. Since 2021, Minor tournaments have been replaced by regional leagues, where winners were awarded DPC points and slots at Major tournaments. Last September, Valve announced that the 2023 season of the Dota Pro Circuit would be the last.
