The previous carry of
Team Spirit Ilya “Yatoro” Mulyarchuk thinks that because Valve started developing Deadlock, which already has an alpha ranking system, they stopped paying attention to Dota 2.
This was said while streaming on Twitch.
“They simply can’t bother to adjust the system. This is astonishing, they are announcing ranked play for a game, Deadlock, which is still in closed alpha. They don’t care at all, they are doing Deadlock. Not really though, because it is strange why it has not gone from alpha to full release already”
In his view, there will be no changes to the existing ranked system and MMR since the deadlock is the main focus and there is no interest to change Dota. He sees it as an angle; there are quite less resources going into the MOBA at this point, but then again, so is the interest with Valve towards Deadlock as that game would have been launched long back with out being in alpha.
On top of that, Yatoro thinks that if that game access was available now through Steam, with no code or testing invite barrier, it will be quite famous.
Remember that Ilya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk previously spoke about Magomed "Collapse" Khalilov's return to the professional Dota 2 scene for the first time.
