Why create a new one when it's already working well?

why create a new one when its already working well
As you know, progress never stands still. And that includes the game world. Nowadays, there are many games that come in huge series. Games such as Battlefield, Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed, etc. have been released for over 15 years. These games get new graphics, new storylines and their development has of course had a positive effect.

But what if there are games that don't need progress? And how do such games have so much popularity?

How can the gaming community like it?

No matter how many games there are around the world, there are only a few dozen successful ones that have stood the test of time, and are still hugely popular. So what is their success and why is that?

Games such as Dota 2, CS:GO, Clash of Clans and World of Tanks have been leaders in their genres for more than 10 years. And there are several reasons for this.

Clash of Clans

  1. Simplicity. As strange as it may sound, it is the leading factor for games such as CS:GO, Clash of Clans and World Of Tanks. This is by no means to say that games bring nothing but simplicity to players, but it is the ease of exploration and the minimum of unnecessary information that gives people the desire to develop, and to be better than anyone else.
  2. Risk is the most powerful PR. We all remember when Valve decided to host the first The International in the yet-to-be-released Dota 2, with a huge prize pool of $1.6 million at the time.
  3. Esports and balance. All of the above games undoubtedly have other counterparts. But it's these games that pay the most attention to the balance issue. As in traditional sports, it is the diligence and persistence of the players, rather than the imbecility of the purchased items, that is of interest to spectators.
  4. Audience. All of the above points combine to fuel the interest of the audience. And many media, opinion leaders and ordinary users are always happy to write about and mention their favorite games. And even with some project failures, the audience has only grown over the years.

Maybe something should be changed?

Many of you have probably wondered about this. Clash of Clans has over the years become a greedy game that even the average user takes up a lot of free time. Dota 2 has become a game where it's impossible to enjoy winning, World of tanks has become a game with a lot of donated tanks, and CS:GO is a game with the most horrible anti-cheat.

Many players want to see these games in a new light, without the aforementioned problems, and perhaps even in a new form. But is it worth it?

Many developers realised a long time ago that it was useless to create competition with these games, but this is not the case.

War Thunder

War Thunder is a tank simulator (and not only) and a direct opponent to games from Wargaming, including WoT, WoWS and WoWP. Games of the same genre and almost the same mechanics, except that one project is more arcade and the other simulator, the presentation of the game's content itself is quite different. War Thunder was long predicted to remain a simulator with a bunch of people who didn't like the politics of WoT. But over time, the game's audience only grew, because the developers were doing exactly what Wargaming didn't want to do.

LoL

LoL is a Moba game and an opponent of Dota. The success of the Warcraft 3 modification was undoubtedly huge. But it was still considered a custom warcraft game. In addition, the creators of the modification often had conflicts. Eventually, the designers who helped update the game DotA: Allstars moved to Riot Games and created LoL, which is currently the most popular Moba. But then why isn't it on the list you ask? Because no matter how popular it is, Dota 2 still prevails in the CIS, Europe and America.

Valorant

Valorant is a first-person shooter and opponent to CS:GO. You have undoubtedly heard about Valorant. Riot Games has run an incredibly hard PR campaign, luring many professional players from CS:GO to their game. Despite this, the game can't beat its opponent, due to the fact that this PR campaign is working against the game. The developers from Riot Games wanted to nail the opponent, but such a huge coverage brought one resentment, as the game heavily chased innovation in its gameplay, forgetting about the balance and simplicity. For now, the game is still on point, but can the developers please their users?

What if we keep the basis but change the policy?

Let's remember how fun it was to play Dota 2 in 2013. When you were rewarded for matches with items that you could sell on the marketplace and then indulge yourself with a game on Steam or an interesting set in the game. Or Clash of Clans in 2014, when you could easily build a base and fight the clans on the map using strategic skills. But while these games have remained the same theme, their financial policies have changed drastically.

At the moment, NFT projects are becoming popular all over the world and they in turn promise players the same unforgettable, beloved gaming experience, with generous rewards.

Heroes of Mavia

For example, Heroes of Mavia is due out soon. It will have similar gameplay to Clash of Clans, one of the biggest mobile games of all time. The big difference is that players will be able to earn in the game rather than just pay the company money for microtransactions. Players will be able to build their base, and improve their army and skills to defend against enemies. In the game you can earn Ruby tokens by defeating opponents. Stronger opponents will give more rewards if you manage to defeat them at their own base.

League of Ancients

Also a promising project should be League of Ancients, which will be similar to Dota 2 and LoL in many ways. The game is based on play-to-earn and free-to-play mechanics, which means that players will be able to profit from the game.

Old games undoubtedly need a fresh approach, but if the developers are unwilling to respond to player requests, then others can take their place. At the moment, these could be NFT games, as their main aim is not only to bring everyone's favorite gaming experience, but also to give people something that was previously available to players, namely rewards for their efforts.
