But after 2 months, due to the global health threat associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, Valve decided to postpone The International 10 and cancel the DPC season. Valve found itself in virtually perfect conditions to launch regional leagues. Unfortunately, the company didn`t take advantage of this, and until September 4, the eSports scene was left to itself. Thanks to the initiative of Epic Esports Events, WePlay!, ESL and Beyond the Summit, players were able to enjoy watching esports events. In addition, Valve didn`t support the major online leagues in any way, which resulted in a large accumulation of criticism and indignation. Also, this situation has complicated the search for sponsors, both for tournament organizers and e-sports organizations. For this reason, organizations have absolutely no place to monetize and bring them huge losses. After 4 months of waiting, a post appears on Valve's official website in which they describe their future plans. The company clarified the situation regarding The International, introduced new rules for broadcasting tournaments for independent streamers and announced the start of a new DPC season. Valve, realizing that they could no longer stand aside and ignore the situation due to COVID, began to contact tournament operators to offer assistance and financial support.

Starting from September 15, the gaming community has felt support from Valve. The rules on the broadcasting of official championships that came into force helped tournament operators to improve the quality of their work, and with the support of the company, the first tournaments in South America have already been held. But unfortunately, time goes and due to the inaction of Valve, the quarantine and the crisis, many organizations had to take emergency measures. Due to insufficient information and an unclear situation on the pro scene, many esports organizations and teams went inactive or disbanded their rosters even before the start of the new DPC season: Team Unique, OG Seed, Geek Fam, Chaos Esports, CR4ZY disbanded their rosters from for the uncertainties in the esports scene and for the huge costs of maintaining teams. And that's just 4 months. But not everything is as bad as it might seem at first view. Valve's recent actions have shown the gaming community that they are not going to give up their project. The company announced that new heroes will soon be released, one of which will be already at the end of November. Started helping tournament organizers. Revived the long-forgotten Diretide, which everyone has been waiting for 6 years. Moreover, it gave hope for the resumption of such events as Frostivus and New Bloom. Valve also didn`t forget about the pro-scene and have already announced major tournaments for the regions of Europe and CIS. We, and all Dota 2 fans, hope that the company will continue to invest money and energy in its game, and the quarantine period will finally come to an end and we will be able to see esports in the format of Lan tournaments.
