Valve has released a small but symbolically important update for Dota 2. A new section called “Credits” has been added to the game, where the developers have added the names of the voice actors of all the characters, and also expressed their gratitude to Blizzard and the Warcraft 3 community, the creators of the universe from which Dota grew.

The section can be found under the “Knowledge Base” tab in the top menu. This is the second update to this page in May 2025, having previously added mini-games and comics related to the current Fallen Crown event.
Such a step from Valve looks like an unexpected, but important gesture of respect for the origins. As a reminder, the original Dota originated as a custom map for Warcraft 3, developed in 2003 by modder Kyle “Eul” Sommer. Many elements, including building design and styling, were inspired by the World Tree and the Ice Throne, the centerpieces of the Warcraft universe.
Valve actually acknowledged Blizzard's contribution to the creation of Dota 2, which can be seen as a rare example of recognition from one gaming corporation to another - especially considering the past legal disputes between the companies over MOBAs.
We would like to remind you that earlier also unexpectedly released patch 7.39b, which significantly changed the balance of the game.
