Valve has released an urgent update for Dota 2 that has finally fixed the
Hand Of Midas bug disrupting the game's matchmaking balance.
The developers had to take radical measures in their fight against bug abusers by removing the 10-second period during which the item could be sold for its full price. Previously, players could easily get 2200 gold back, but now they can only get 1100, making gold abuse impossible.
Given that this is a quite drastic solution affecting the usual mechanics, it is likely a temporary measure. It is possible that the item return period will be reinstated in the next update, with a permanent fix for the bug.
It is worth noting that even a prominent esports player was caught abusing
Hand Of Midas for gold in a match.
