Valve removed one of the heroes from Dota 2: what happened

Warlock Dota 2 ban

Valve has temporarily removed Warlock from Dota 2 due to a critical bug on the hero that allows you to gain level 30 for the hero in 10 minutes.

Players complained en masse that Warlock could use the Black Grimoire bug to gain levels incredibly quickly, gaining an unfair advantage during a match. Valve responded to the critical situation, and banned the hero from being peaked until the issue is resolved.

How the bug works on Warlock:

  • You need to select the Black Grimoire aspect, then immediately after exiting the fountain, move the book to your backpack and put it on sale. The next step is to buy any item and send a courier to your place.

  • Once the courier has the book, cancel the sale and send the courier back to the fountain, waiting for the grimoire to become available again.

  • Once the item can be used, the cycle begins: move it from the courier to the stash and activate “use”. This process continues until the desired level is reached, but most bug bounties pump the character up to level 28-30 without stopping.

It is still unknown when the character will return to matchmaking, but it is likely that in the near future Valve may release a fix with a solution to the problem.
