RobnrollGaming, an English-speaking Dota 2 commentator and streamer, criticized Valve's attitude towards casters on The International 10 qualifiers on his Twitter.
Valve, after making THE biggest amount of any TI battlepass ever last year and having just released a new battlepass today and have plans to release another very soon are no longer paying for casters to cover the TI quals, which is being left up to BTS.
Past quals would be $100 per game and then whatever amount you agreed with a studio if you wanted to work with them instead of on your own channel. after spending the past year not supporting the players it's not surprising to me that they now don't support the casters.
This is just another way that valve are finding ways to take advantage of the passion of the people that want to be involved in this game, they pulled in over 120+ million dollars with the last battlepass.
Thats money that could go toward fostering new players and talent and supporting the talent already established in the game instead it goes into what I can only imagine is their scrooge mcduck vault that they take turns swimming in on their breaks.
