Deadlock might be a Valve competitive shooter inspired by Dota 2 heroes and borrowing some mechanics from Team Fortress 2 and Valorant. The whole game could be made in steampunk style.
This was reported on Twitter by the insider GabeFollower.
"Deadlock. Valve’s next game. Formerly Neon Prime, Citadel.
A third person competitive shooter with characters. 6v6 battles on a huge map with four lanes. Abilities and items are at your disposal. Tower defense mechanics of the genre. Steampunk mixed with fantasy setting. Mages, fantastical creatures, robots too! Swift movement through rails like in Bioshock Infinite.
In general, an interesting fast-paced gameplay. Combination of Dota 2, Team Fortress 2, Overwatch, Valorant, Smite, Orcs Must Die"
However, according to the insider information initially developers considered concentrating on technology and a similar theme but later changed their minds to turn fantasy route prior to finishing like this way they came up with this idea together.
"The heroes are mostly inspired by the Dota universe. The main map references a modern European city in steampunk style (somewhat like Half-Life). Initially, the game had sci-fi elements inspired by Half-Life and Portal, but after developer feedback, it was decided to focus on the fantasy aspect"
It is important to note that Valve have not officially said anything about its future projects yet hence several things may change during the course of development.
It is worth remembering that earlier Valve announced officially when the second act of Crownfall will start that continues event storyline in Dota 2.
