On August 24, 1996, 27 years ago, Gabe Newell and Mike Harrington founded Valve Software.
The company's first product was the legendary Half-Life game series, created on a modified Quake engine. Half-Life will become the basis for such popular games and modifications as the Counter-Strike and Team Fortress.
In the future, the company will create its own engine - Source Engine. Games such as Half-Life 2, Portal, Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Portal 2, Postal III, Black Mesa, Apex Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2 were created on Source Engine.
In order to release games, update them and put everything together, the Steam platform was created.
In 2015, Dota 2 was not transferred to the Source 2 engine. Soon, CS:GO fans are waiting for the release of Counter-Strike 2 on Source 2.
