Tidehunter has become one of the best heroes of patch 7.40 thanks to a number of buffs which allow him to single-handedly take not only the entire enemy team but also solo destroy the enemy throne thanks to the Blubber talent.
In update 7.40
Tidehunter got two key talents at once which completely changed his role and allowed to play the hero as a full carry. At level 20 appeared a talent, because of which triggering Blubber automatically activates Anchor Smash, and at level 25 — a talent allowing Anchor Smash to deal damage to buildings.
Blubber activates when the hero takes 450 damage from enemies. With the new talents this passive additionally applies
Tidehunter third skill, dealing AoE physical damage with a 200 bonus. As a result, if several enemies jump on the hero at the same time, Blubber can proc multiple times in a short time, which potentially allows to destroy the entire enemy team.
If at the moment of activation
Tidehunter is near towers or enemy throne, Anchor Smash will deal damage to buildings as well. Thus, the hero is capable not only to win fights, but literally break the base under enemy focus. To implement this strategy Tidehunter is built with damage items, similar to classic carries.
Recall that earlier in Dota 2 the 7.40 patch imba was revealed with a 60% winrate in matchmaking.
