The prize pool for The International 2024 could be extremely small this year due to Compendium 2024, which Valve planned to use to boost it.
The issue is that Dota 2 players, streamers, and esports professionals are criticizing the developers for shifting the focus of the Battle Pass analog rewards related to TI13. Fans expected cosmetics related to Ringmaster, as well as possibly hero Arcanas and other items to adorn heroes. Instead, most of the rewards consist of chat wheel phrases and loading screens.
Compendium 2024 has already faced criticism from Roman "RAMZES666" Kushnarev and Alexander "Nix" Levin. The streamer believes that the rewards do not meet community expectations and that the Compendium will not sell well.
1win's coach even predicts that the prize pool for The International 2024 will reach at most $2 million, making it one of the smallest in Dota 2 history.
It should be noted that Valve released Compendium 2024 dedicated to TI13, with most of the rewards focused on esports fans.
