T1 vs Alliance

T1 vs Alliance

T1 are at their peak. After being defeated by PSG.LGD, the team was able to pull themselves together and show a great game on the first map. The first map and a very active draft from T1, Wraith King with Magnus and 3 active meta heroes. Alliance decided to take the signature Morphling for Nikobaby, which they often took in the group stage. Thanks to the excellent play of the T1 supports, the SEA team was able to dominate the early game and increase the advantage. Alliance tried to give a fight, but in the mid game the T1 heroes were stronger, and Wraith King was so far away from Morphling on networth. So he was killed only once per game with the help of buybacks by Alliance. Very confident 1-0 for T1.

The 2nd map almost completely repeated the scenario of the first map. The Swedish team took Medusa instead of Morphling, and Void Spirit instead of Ember Spirit. But, unfortunately for the team from Europe, the picture has not changed. Total domination on the lines from T1, constantly won fights. The only fight Alliance won happened at 13 minutes. But that's all, T1 wins 2-0 and Alliance is eliminated from the tournament.

Vici Gaming vs Evil Geniuses

rtz

On the first map, VG pick Medusa and Storm Spirit, planning to give their carry all the farm and play in late game. EG took the more active cores, Clinkz and Ember Spirit. Vici Gaming skillfully avoided fights for up to 19 minutes. 9 kills before the 19th minute is a rare event on this TI; OG make same kill count in 5 min. After that, EG went to Roshan and had the first fight with a good exchange for themselves. Clinkz already had enough damage to destroy towers, and EG started building up their lead. VG tried to fight, but they didn't succeed. As a result, a victory for Evil Geniuses.

On the second map, VG decided to take a pick, which was ready to fight at any stage of the game. Carry Monkey King, mid Queen of Pain and 3 pos Magnus. EG took the famous carry Razor for Arteezy and Void Spirit for Abed. The game was very tense and equal, regular fights and kills, great initiations and movement on the map from both teams. Everyone expected a mistake from the enemy. Vici turned out to be more patient and at the 32nd minute they were able to catch Abed, who just went into 5 heroes, got an orchid and died. It costed Roshan for Evil Geniuses. But VG could not use it. After waiting for end the aegis and catching excellent timing, EG had a great fight on the bottom and killed 2 cores without a buyback, but lost Arteezy for that. Without Razor, EG has no damage to buildings and the side remained standing. After that, there were several incredible fights, in one of which VG managed to take the side and knock out a couple of buybacks from EG, and evil geniuses killed several VG heroes without a buyback and took Aegis of the Immortal. But this Roshan became a funeral for the American team. Evil Geniuses just had no damage for fast kill the Roshan. VG respawned , pressed Smoke of Deceit and instantly entered the enemy forest, where they were able to catch Arteezy with aegis and no buyback, and then finished the game.

3rd map, EG decides not to risk with a pick on mid and takes the signature Storm Spirit for Abed. But for carry, Troll Warlord was picked, who had a 40% win rate at TI. VG decided not to experiment with pick in the elimination match and took Spectre. Abed was able to win the mid lane with the help of supports. Thanks to his great play, Evil Geniuses were able to win the early game and let Troll Warlord to farm, but the advantage didn't grow. On the 20th minute, EG were able to kill Roshan and even destroy the T3 in order to enter the high ground. It looked like the end, but Ori on Void Spirit was able to deliver an incredible remnant and kill Storm Spirit, after which he survived on 20 hp and bury the entire EG team. However, a team from America was able to fight near their outpost and open their way to Roshan. Taking Roshan, Evil Geniuses lost their position, and Vici Gaming used it . Great ultimate from Pyw and duel in illusion by Iceiceice allowed VG to knock out the Aegis and seize the advantage. The decisive moment was the fight on midlane. Terrible initiation in Enchantress by Arteezy and Abed, completely lost position and top 12 for Evil Geniuses.

Invictus Gaming vs Team Secret

secret leaders

Now we can say with confidence that Secret did not specifically show their form during the group stage. On the 1st map, a team from Europe crushed iG. The winners of Group A had no chance of winning. Secret picked Templar Assassin with Vengeful Spirit and managed to overwhelm the opponent with push and roshan so early that Invictus Gaming just got lost on the map. Total domination and victory on the 1st map from the team from Europe.

On the second map, everything was not so simple. Team Secret took Templar Assassin and Lifestealer hoping for a quick game again. iG took Spectre for the late game and Kunkka to create the space. The game was equal up to 20 minutes. Excellent play from MATUMBAMAN on Lifestealer, who was able to escape from arena with the help of Infest, and excellent play of YapzOr on Windranger, who broke the entire position of iG, were able to bring Secret 8K advantage and Roshan for TA. Puppey with his team didn't waste time and went to push t2 in the mid. Invictus Gaming were able to repulse the attack at the cost of several buybacks, but this was not enough to kill the TA. Secret tried again, but this time iG repelled the attack without difficulty. After that, the Chinese team was able to have some good fights and close the gap. But at 33 minutes with two dead heroes, zai with MATUMBAMAN were able to find and kill Spectre. And it cost the team from China a lot. 12 thousand advantages for Secret and Aegis with Aghanim. The fight on Roshan was fatal, iG tried to focus Lifestealer, but Puppey and zai with the help of Fissure and Force Staff were able to save him. After that, this Lifestealer just ate the iG team. 2-0 and Secret secured top 3.

PSG.LGD vs Virtus.pro

lgd vs vp

On the first map, VP picked their standard carry Bristleback and Ember Spirit to mid. LGD decided not to go late game against them and also pick active heroes. PSG.LGD's idea was simple, VP didn't have burst and enough damage, so the Chinese team recruited fat heroes and Luna, all under the buff from the Kunkka ship. After letting Luna get farmed, LGD constantly forced fights, and VP just lacked damage. The game was simple for LGD, while Virtus.pro had to try very hard to implement their draft against the LGD heroes. As a result: 1-0.

On the second map, VP first pick Tiny + Io combo, adding the signature Void Spirit for gpk. Realizing that their opponent from the CIS focused their draft on teamfight, the Chinese team decided to outplay them and took strong heroes with save and heal. VP started not well, NothingToSay outplayed gpk in the midlane. And when fights began, Virtus.pro realised that they were able to kill only enemy supports. PSG.LGD caught, killed and pushed the lanes through their draft and skill. After several unsuccessful fights, VP watched their center and bottom lines fall at 25 minutes. After an unsuccessful attempt to fight back, Virtus.pro gave up and wrote GG.
