Mikhail “Misha” Agatov, former
OG coach, called on Valve to replace the behavior score system in Dota 2, saying that the current low priority punishment is not effective.
He shared his idea during a Twitch stream
“How I would improve the report system in Dota. First of all, you should never remove the ability to type or talk. That’s impossible, it shouldn’t happen, because there’s already a mute button. People would stop losing their minds twice as much. Second, delete low priority and just replace reports with strict bans from matchmaking — 10 hours, 2 days, 5 days for griefing reports. The main thing is to punish players who break items, go AFK, or leave the game. Just keep that part
The behavior score system isn’t needed in Dota. Dota is a chaotic game where you have to endure and sometimes flame. People need freedom of speech. A democratic report system is what we need”
Misha noted that the behavior rating makes no sense, since if someone doesn’t like what a teammate says, they can just mute him. He also suggested replacing low priority with temporary matchmaking bans lasting from a few hours up to a week.
According to him, such changes would be better received by fans and help prevent rule violations, since the current punishments are not very effective or meaningful.
It’s also worth mentioning that Quinn Callahan previously said there’s a region where there’s no chance to become an esports player, explaining why.
