Team Spirit was prepared for reputational losses by signing Kamal "Koma`" Biktimirov, who received a lifetime ban from Valve.
Dmitry "Korb3n" Belov, the manager of
Team Spirit, made this statement during a Twitch broadcast.
"Koma is not a player; he is a streamer in the organization. If they signed him as a streamer, the organization was probably ready for some specific image losses. So they signed him. This means Koma as a streamer brings more to the organization"
According to his words,
Team Spirit knew about the scandal with Koma and his permanent ban in Dota 2 when they signed a contract with him. Presumably, the club's management values the effectiveness of the esportsman in the streamer position.
It's noteworthy that Ilya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk stood up for the esportsman at the time, but this did not influence Valve's decision, and he was punished with a lifetime ban. Due to this, Koma couldn't continue his career with
Virtus.pro and signed a contract with
Team Spirit in July 2023.
