Mark “Sikle” Lerman stated that there is a bug in Dota 2 with the progression of frog creeps that has been ignored by both developers and players since the release of patch 7.38.
The
Team Spirit analyst shared his observations on Telegram.
"A bug that for some reason no one is talking about and no one is asking questions about (except for akionka, who has been waiting for a fix since February) — 2 frog camps (one on each side) do not evolve into ancients.
Summary: in 7.38, frogs and their progression were added:
One of the frogs in each camp (there are 6 in total on the map) increases in “rank” by +1 category. If it was small, it became medium; if it was medium, it became large; if it was large, it became ancient.
Each frog can evolve only twice. Initially small, it can grow to a maximum of large and will never become ancient. The rest can grow to ancient status.
There are only 3 frogs in each camp, which means that the first complete transformation of the entire camp will occur at 15:00, and the second at 30:00.
The patch says that BOTH medium frog camps become ancient at 30:00 — it even specifies where these medium frog camps are located. However, 1 of the 2 medium camps on either side of the map does not upgrade to ancient at all. They always remain in the “large” camp status (upgrade at 15:00), which should not be the case.
The average reward for a large frog camp is 117 gold and 165 experience, while the average reward for an ancient frog camp is 164 gold and 312 experience. In each match, there is a lost profit of 94 gold and 294 experience every minute for both camps, if we are talking about 30 minutes. In fact, the difference starts at 20:00, because at that time one of the frogs should already become ancient, then at 25:00 — the second, and at 30:00 — the third."
The
Team Spirit analyst also added that this bug is quite difficult to notice, but it has a significant impact on the game, since the camps mentioned are located mainly in the forest, causing players to lose a lot of potential experience.
Patch 7.38 for Dota 2 was released in the second half of February this year. At the moment, the bug has not been fixed for more than five months.
Earlier, Mark “Sikle” Lerman stated that Valve forgot to add the announced changes for
Sand King in patch 7.39c.
